Historic Gasparilla Island Light was originally built in 1888 in Lewes, Delaware and later moved and reconstructed in 1927 on Gasparilla Island. It is one of the few remaining original rear range light structures in the state, and possibly the only one that has resided in two states.
Currently, you can stand by the side of the road or on the beach to view and photograph this historic structure, but you cannot climb it. That is until it is restored!
Plans are underway to transfer this light to BIPS. It is our intention to restore it to its former beauty which includes painting the lantern room black. Be sure to stay tuned on how you can be a part of making history! For more information, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
