“Where history and nature open minds”
Are you looking for a fun, day trip on a beautiful island? Visit the Port Boca Grande Lighthouse & Museum or one of our four affiliated barrier island state parks and let history and nature take you away!
Our museum and parks offer a multitude of activities from educational programs such as our ever popular “Wading Adventure” to special events like our “Annual Holiday Lighting of the Lighthouse.”
Red Coral Bean
The oldest structure on Gasparilla Island houses a museum that covers local Charlotte Harbor history spanning from 12,000 B.C. to present. It also offers a family-friendly, “please touch” area featuring local bones, fossils and shells. In addition, our docents conduct customized tours that can be scheduled by phone: 941.964.0060, this website or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our parks are each unique, but offer family-fun activities like shelling, swimming and fishing. Cayo Costa can only be reached by private vessel or ferry. Don Pedro Island can only be reached by kayaking from the land base or by private vessel or ferry. Both Stump Pass Beach and Gasparilla can be reached by vessel or car. Captiva Cruises currently runs the ferry to all our affiliated island state parks. For more information please call them at: (239) 472-5300.
To ensure your visit is wonderful, please bring plenty of sunscreen, beach shoes, hats and a lot of water!
